Impressionists in Normandy

November 21, 2024 to May 4, 2025
150 years after the first exhibition in Paris that sanctioned the birth of the Impressionist movement in 1874, an exceptional body of more than 70 works recounting the Impressionist movement and its close ties to Normandy arrives at the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence from Nov. 21.

On the stage of this land, painters such as Monet, Renoir, Delacroix and Courbet--shown with many others--captured the immediacy and vitality of the landscape by imprinting on canvas the moods of the sky, the sparkle of water and the verdant valleys of Normandy, the cradle of Impressionism.

The "Impressionists in Normandy" exhibition focuses mainly on the holdings of the Peindre en Normandie Collection-among the most representative collections of the Impressionist period-supplemented by loans from the Musée d'art moderne in Le Havre and private collections, and traces the highlights of the artistic movement: works such as Delacroix's Falesie a Dieppe (1834), Courbet's The Beach at Trouville (1865), Monet's Fécamp (1881), and Renoir's Sunset, View of Guernesey (1893)-among the masterpieces in the exhibition-tell of the exchanges, comparisons and collaborations between the greatest artists of the time who-immersed in a dazzling nature of intense colors and shimmering panoramas-gave Normandy the emblematic image of the happiness of painting.

Under the patronage of the City of Florence, the exhibition is produced and organized by Arthemisia, in collaboration with Cristoforo, BRIDGECONSULTING and PONTENOVE GMBH and is curated by Alain Tapié. The exhibition has Ricola as a special partner, mobility partner Frecciarossa Treno Ufficiale, educational partner LABA, partners Unicoop Firenze, Mercato Centrale Firenze, I Gigli, media partners QN and Dieci.
